01The routine that keeps a jersey looking new
Replica and game jerseys that wash well

Replica and game builds are the most forgiving in the range because the mesh is designed for repeated wear and washing. Stitched limited builds need more care - the raised twill lettering is the part that suffers first from heat and abrasion, so those are the ones worth folding rather than hanging.
03Why heat is the enemy, not dirt
Almost every jersey care failure traces back to heat rather than to the wash itself. Hot water and hot dryers are what loosen twill lettering, shrink the mesh and crack printed numbers. Cold water does the same cleaning job without any of that damage.
This is why the dryer matters more than the detergent. A jersey that has been washed warm but air-dried will usually still look fine; one that has been through a hot dryer once may never sit the same way again.
04The difference between stitched and printed care
Stitched builds sew the name and number into the fabric, so the lettering sits slightly raised and is the part that suffers first from abrasion. Folding rather than hanging protects it, and a gentle cycle protects it from rubbing against the drum.
Printed builds are more forgiving in the wash but more vulnerable to heat and to chemical buildup. Fabric softener is the main offender here - it coats the lettering over time and makes numbers look dull long before the fabric wears out.
05Long-term storage that does not stretch the shoulders
Fold, do not hang. A heavy twill jersey on a hanger for years stretches the shoulders, and the lettering is the part you cannot replace once it has distorted.
Keep them out of direct sunlight as well. UV is what fades the saturated colourways fastest, and a jersey stored in a bright closet will look noticeably lighter than one stored in a drawer after a couple of seasons.
| Step | Stitched build | Printed build |
|---|---|---|
| Water temperature | Cold | Cold |
| Cycle | Gentle | Gentle |
| Inside out | Yes | Yes |
| Fabric softener | Avoid | Avoid completely |
| Drying | Flat, away from heat | Flat, away from heat |
| Storage | Folded | Folded |
| Biggest risk | Abrasion on raised lettering | Chemical buildup and heat |

Buy two if you plan to wear one often. Rotating between a primary and an alternate halves the wash frequency of each, which is the easiest way to make either one last.
